In 2001 I attended the Aspen Summer Music Festival as both a student and performer. During the 6 weeks I was there, most of the music being practiced and performed had existed in the classical guitar repertoire for many lifetimes. Although those pieces were quite beautiful and timeless, I kept wanting to hear something new and different. To keep me company on my drive back to Vermont, my wife sent me a box of CDs, one of which was "Little Earthquakes" by Tori Amos. By the time I left the Midwest, I knew it was up to me to find something "new" and "different." When I arrived back home, I began arranging Tori Amos' "Winter" for voice and guitar.

The following transcription is made up from some of the best bits from many live recordings of Tori Amos performing Leonard Cohen's "Famous Blue Raincoat." Ms. Amos' interpretation of Leonard Cohen's song is one of the most beautiful pieces of music that I've ever heard, and I was very pleased with how nicely her version sounds on the guitar.
